Audi Park Itself!

In James Bond's movie which is "Tomorrow Never Dies" where Bond would operate his BMW 750IL with a remote control and how i and i bet you too wish that thing in the movie will come to real and in 2013, that technology becomes realistic and it is happening where in The 2013 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) was held in Las Vegas where the world's most important electronic show.  Audi has shown several new technological aspects and one of them is through this self-driven Audi A7 showing off the brand's piloted parking system and in this case, it not using remote control but using an iPhone as a key remote.

How does it work? Audi has been developing its own self-driving technology, which it prefers to call piloted parking or driving.  The car uses twelve ultrasound sensors to navigate and avoid obstacles.  It parks itself with a combination of sensors in the car, the garage and roads.  The hope is that parking garages will have computers that communicate with the car, telling it where there is open space.  The car is able to make turns on its own and knows how to maneuver around the garage with external laser sensors.  For Audi, one technology with which it hopes to leap ahead is a local Wi-Fi hotspot and integrated 3G/4G for internet access for passengers while on the road.

There is still a lot of auto support that have to be improved in order to make this system functioning well it needs access to the car park's management system, in order to find and and allocate a free parking space and transmit the route to the car.  Since most modern car parks have more than one level or are underground, GPS-based positioning is not really an option, so instead the management system uses Wi-Fi to transmitt the route.

So girls, lets go for shopping whilst our car do the parking!
